Wake Up Call

This week has been a week of heartache for many people. I’m sure you have seen the news. If not, it shouldn’t be very hard to find out what has been going on. In light of this, I thought it appropriate to delay my other story posts and write something a little different.

I don’t know who remembers September 11, 2001. I was only a little girl. 9/11 has shaped my entire growing up years and life. I have dealt with security rules since before I can remember. Distrust grew in this nation, not that it wasn’t already there under the surface. We scoff at the rules that are supposed to protect us, but most under 30 probably don’t know what it would be like without them.

My parents have said that 9/11 was a wake-up call for them. A shift in our world took place. Recent events should do the same for my generation. I grew up watching the signs of the times, but I think that the youth of this generation are starting to wake up and see that things are very very wrong. I hope this is so, and that we can change our behavior before the end.

I believe Jesus is coming soon. We can make a difference, even if it’s just in little things. If you aren’t reading your Bible, I encourage you to do it. Have a Bible study with your friends. Share the truth in love. Try some friendship evangelism.

The events this week have convinced me more than ever that time is short. I can see the world getting more nasty and unsafe, and I believe that Christians need to get more in tune with God and be bolder in sharing the light and love of Jesus.

It’s the darkest right before dawn- but take heart, the dawn is coming! I want all my loved ones to be there in the morning, don’t you?
