But her children had gone crazy about them lately, making so many that the living room floor and their playroom floor were both covered with kaleidoscope materials. “Susie, why are you making so many kaleidoscopes?” She asked the next morning as she put the eggs and hash browns on the dining room table. 

“Because the children in the hospital have no toys to play with!” Her daughter exclaimed. “Thank you for the breakfast, Mother.”

“The hospital has no color.” Kellie, her oldest daughter, who loved art, murmured. 

“And there are no trains!” Tommy, who was a train enthusiast like his father, declared in a tone of annoyance. 

Jenny thought for a moment. Perhaps it was a good thing that Karl had taken the children to visit their cousin last week… “Well, children, I guess we should visit the hospital and rectify this. Eat your breakfast and then we will gather some supplies to take along with us when we visit Jimmy this afternoon.”
